Please share language you would like to see to evaluate significant modifications to a MFU to trigger hood suppression. Do not hesitate to let your opinions be known and be willing to hear others as well.
The main issue I have had this year is with hoods. Regardless if there is a suppression system or not the hood itself should have an inspection and or cleaning tag from the current season. Not sure this is being enforced regularly. Another issue is the interpretation of the code now requiring a hood, not talking about a suppression system just the hood. I would not force a vendor to put in a hood that did not have one before the new code. I have heard others see this a different way. I still feel this system is beneficial but consistency is going to get more difficult the more we grow.
I agree with Mike. My only question about hood cleaning is the frequency. I get that food trucks are a "seasonal" business which, by code, would only require an annual cleaning. But when they deep-fry 18 hours a day, five to six days a week, they should, in some cases, be on a 3-month rotation.
Please share your ideas as we navigate the ever changing landscape. Lets try and make this a productive group for the AHJ and the Vendor.
Are we planning to transition from the IROL platform to Brycer before March? If so, could we discuss the following registration items?
For trailers, the vehicle information entered should be for the trailer, not the tow vehicle. I have noticed an increasing number of registrations containing tow vehicle information, and these errors do not appear to be identified during subsequent inspections. Could we add an item to the inspection checklist requiring inspectors to verify that the registration information matches the vehicle or trailer being inspected?
Could we also add a section where vendors can upload images of the front and back of their current health department license? Since vendors must renew their registration in our system before receiving their new health department license, they could initially upload their current license. The system could then send a reminder at the end of March asking them to upload the renewed license.
Automated reminders would also be helpful whenever other required documents expire, including license plate registrations and proof of insurance.
